Jeremy Renner joining Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film
Here, let me make any film geeks dreams come true.
According to The Playlist, a story that has been making the rounds as of late is now “100% locked.” The outlet is reporting that Jeremy Renner, hot off the success of last year’s Oscar darling The Hurt Locker, will be taking the role of “the drunken, existentially lost drifter” Freddie Sutton in the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson film, which has yet to be titled but is currently known as THE MASTER.
The film basically follows a character (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman), who is pretty much a carbon copy of L. Ron Hubbard, and will look at religion. Other than that, we know little to nothing about the film, but really, Hoffman, Anderson, and now Renner is all that anyone in their right mind needs to know to freak out and start anticipating this film.
The film is looking to go in front of cameras as soon as possible; but with Universal taking a pass on it, it’s in some sort of weird release limbo, so a shoot date hasn’t been locked. I’ll be waiting patiently.
