Jesse Eisenberg 30 Minutes or Less

While fellow SOCIAL NETWORK star Armie Hammer is the latest member of that rather stunning cast to find a new gig, Jesse Eisenberg not only has the awards recognition that comes with giving a towering performance as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, but he’s also gotten a new role, too.

The Wrap is reporting that Eisenberg and actress Jess Weixler (TEETH, PETER AND VANDY) have joined the cast of the upcoming film, a romantic comedy entitled FREE SAMPLES. The pair will join Jason Ritter, Tippi Hedren, Hallie Pfeiffer, Kier O’Donnell, Matt Walsh, and Jocelyn Donahue.

The film will follow “a law school drop-out who fills in as a server as a friend's food truck, where she doles out free samples of ice cream. The job tests her patience, and while she figures out what to do with her life, she finds herself being courted by a young man (Eisenberg) whom she barely remembers from the night before.”

This marks another interesting step in the career of Eisenberg, who has seemed to take his performance in THE SOCIAL NETWORK and run with it. Looking like a lock for at least an Oscar nomination, this should be an interesting supporting turn for the up-and-coming superstar. I’m not too crazy about romantic comedies, but if there is one thing that a film like PETER AND VANDY has taught me, it’s that the indie world is more than capable of bringing us a worthwhile rom-com. This one sounds like it’ll fit that perfectly.
