Jesse Plemons and David Warshofsky join Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film
Two new actors have been added to Paul Thomas Anderson's upcoming film, his much buzzed-about not-yet-named religious drama. Jesse Plemons, most notably known for his role on Friday Night Lights, and David Warshofsky have joined the cast of actors such as Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Laura Dern, and Jeremy Renner.
The main role, played by Hoffman, is that of "a charismatic intellectual who, after witnessing the horrors of WWII, creates a belief system designed to catch on with other lost souls in post-war America", according to Variety. Plemons will be filling the role of Hoffman's son and Warshofsky will be playing a detective.
The film will be financed by Annapurna Pictures, which is headed by Megan Ellison. Anderson and longtime collaborator JoAnne Sellar will produce the film through Ghoulardi Film Co. along with Ellison. Production is supposed to begin in Sacramento in June.
Warshofsky has worked with Anderson before on THERE WILL BE BLOOD. He has also been cast in the upcoming film LINCOLN.
