As CAPTAIN AMERICA nears its debut, one of the film’s stars appears to be gearing up for a project that’s been trying to make its way to the big screen for years now.

In speaking with Esquire (via The Playlist), actress Hayley Atwell revealed that her next project may be a “Jimi Hendrix biopic – an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix. But I don’t know, really. The Atwell team is like, Let’s just wait and see…,”

This project has been gestating for a number of years now, with Andre 3000 attached since day one.  Now, while this itself isn’t a statement that this film will be shooting soon, it does give way to the possibility, despite the Hendrix estate being vehemently against the idea of brining Hedrix’s life to the big screen.  Various attempts have been made at doing a project with a studio budget (Legendary was the last studio to try their luck), but this is for all intents and purposes, the closest we’ve gotten.  I personally find the idea of Andre 3000 doing Jimi Hendrix really appealing, and Atwell would be a welcome addition to the project.  Here’s to hoping this one has finally found its footing.
