Jodie Foster’s THE BEAVER delayed till May

Jodie Foster's beleaguered THE BEAVER is seeing yet another release date change. The Mel Gibson-starrer will now open in limited release on May 6, expanding wide on May 20. The film was previously slated for a March 23 release.

The move is being attributed to something positive, however, which is nice to see, as so often release date changes are blamed on bad buzz. The film is reportedly sliding to May for "better cast availability," particularly in relation to director and co-star Foster's schedule. The film also expects to have "a positive critical response following the SXSW Film Festival where it will be shown on March 16th," (hopefully) good buzz that Summit wants to capitalize on.

We will, of course, be bringing you a SXSW review of THE BEAVER as soon as it shows, and I am greatly looking forward to seeing if this film meets its Black Listed screenplay's potential.
