Nothing quite like the grandfather of a subgenre returning home.

After penning the prototypical erotic thriller in the film BASIC INSTINCT, writer Joe Eszterhas has written yet another thriller, entitled LUST, currently being produced by Stone Village Productions, according to THR.

The film is apparently a “cross between BASIC INSTINCT and FATAL ATTRACTION,” and follows “a 30-year old beauty who is married and in love with an older Miami-based fashion magazine publisher, only to be seduced by a younger charming playboy on a business trip in Los Angeles. The playboy has an Russian assistant who is in love with him, and in this twisted jealous love triangle, secretly videotapes him and his new lover having sex to show it to her husband.” Toss in some “steamy sex scenes” and real estate transactions, and you have the jist of what LUST is all about.

According to the report, the film is set to be sent out to cast and director in a few weeks, and will begin being sold at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, with a late summer shoot date likely.

Honestly, since UNFAITHFUL, the world of erotic thrillers has been relatively dull, so at this point, a new project like this could be really, really interesting. I’m a fan of much of Eszterhas’ work, so hopefully this can be in line with some of the films that it has drawn comparisons to.
