This is why Marvel has been finding so much recent success, because it seems like every big move they make is so damn smart. Joe Quesada has been instrumental in Marvel’s successes since he became the Editor-in-Chief a decade ago. Many of their more daring and inventive story arcs are because he took a chance, and allowed stuff that others probably wouldn’t.

Well, he just got a promotion to Chief Creative Officer at Marvel, which will make his pull even stronger in Marvel’s other endeavors that aren’t just the funny books.

In this new position, he will be involved in the creative process of every facet of Marvel, including the movies and animated series. He will make sure that all these properties are on the right track storywise, and maintain the Marvel level of excellence. This could really step up the quality of Marvel media in a really big way.

This doesn’t mean you should fret that the comics won’t keep the same quality, because Quesada will still be keeping his job as Editor-in-Chief. His devotion is ludicrous, but definitely in all the right ways.

Although the short term effects of this are probably nil, the long term effects could very well be astronomical. As a die-hard Marvel fan, it makes me proud to see their initiative towards success and making really great content. It’s reasons like this why I love Marvel ever so much, and I’m sure this will ring true in the new age of Marvel media.
