John August to team back up with Tim Burton for MONSTERPOCALYPSE
If a film could get any less interesting.
According to Heat Vision, John August is set to re-team with Tim Burton for his upcoming take on the monster board game, Monsterpocalypse. The outlet is reporting that the CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY duo (who also worked together on BIG FISH and CORPSE BRIDE), are both in talks to jump aboard the adaptation of the game, which is best described as a board game version of the hit arcade video game, Rampage.
While neither have signed on completely, both are looking like they will be making the film together, and I couldn’t be more upset. As a filmmaker, I really do not think that Burton is quite what he once was (which wasn’t exactly all that amazing to begin with). Personally, I dig his work on CORPSE BRIDE, but outside of ED WOOD, the past 10 to 15 years haven’t been too kind to the raven-haired filmmaker.
Now, the two are both slated to re-team for Burton’s next film, the adaptation of the ‘60s TV show, Dark Shadows, with Burton’s muse, Johnny Depp, attached to star. While that is definitely more interesting than MONSTERPOCALYPSE, I’m not too excited for anything from Burton, especially after the pile of drek that was ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
