We've been writing about Stephen Daldry's adaptation of the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, for quite some time now. It was back in August that I wrote about Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock joining the cast; a few weeks back we found out that a young whiz kid landed the lead role; now, we've learned that John Goodman will also be joining the cast.

Hit the jump for the full story.

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that John Goodman will be joining the aforementioned actors in an already fantastic cast. If you read my countdown of the best Coen brothers films, you noticed that there was a strong correlation between John Goodman's screen time and its rank on the list. I don't know why that is...perhaps it's because I consider John Goodman to be the greatest actor to ever grace this earth? Yeah, that's probably right.

In short, this could be the greatest thing to happen to this highly anticipated film. Or, for that matter, to any film ever.
