Johnny Depp to play Pancho Villa in WILD ROSES, TENDER ROSES

Well, they had to move a few things around but they got it done. It turns out that Johnny Depp will in fact star as Mexican revolutionary general Pancho Villa in Emir Kusturica's WILD ROSES, TENDER ROSES. The two-time Palme d’Or winner and renowned foreign director will begin production on the film starting in 2011. ROSES was formerly known as SEVEN FRIENDS OF PANCHO VILLA AND THE WOMAN WITH SIX FINGERS. Rumor is the title change came after the filmmaker discovered AMERICAN PIE PRESENTS: SEVEN FRIENDS OF PANCHO VILLA AND THE WOMAN WITH SIX FINGERS was already taken.

Salma Hayek will also star alongside Depp in the film. If that isn't international and sexy enough for you already, ROSES will be shot entirely in Spanish, produced and distributed through a French production company and shoot partially in Serbia, as well as Spain.

Something tells me this will be slightly better than AND STARRING PANCHO VILLA AS HIMSELF, starring Antonio Banderas as Pancho Villa as...Pancho which "Hollywood makes a deal with Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa to film his war and recreate his life." I don't make this stuff up people. I wish I was that clever.
