Johnny Greenwood scoring WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN
Despite not having that many films to his name, one of today’s most gifted composers happens to be Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood.
With his brilliant score to Paul Thomas Anderson’s THERE WILL BE BLOOD turning heads, and his score to Tran Anh Hung’s upcoming film, NORWEGIAN WOOD, being one of the more anticipated scores of the year, THR has revealed that Greenwood has found himself a brand new project to score. And it’s one hell of a film.
The outlet is reporting that Greenwood will be scoring Lynne Ramsay’s upcoming film, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, starring Tilda Swinton.
Ramsay’s take on the Lionel Shriver novel, the film follows “a smart, educated New York mother who does her best to raise a son she never wanted. He turns out to be extremely difficult and is at the center of the woman's marital breakdown before going on a killing spree at his high school with a crossbow.” John C. Reilly and Ezra Miller co-star.
Personally, I’ve always been a big fan of the underrated Ramsay (RATCATCHER is still criminally underseen), and it goes without saying that Greenwood is a great composer. The film itself sounds really intriguing, and under the watch of Ramsay, this is one of the films that I can’t wait to check out this year.
