It's not an easy task to top one of the biggest movies of the year, but director Jon Favreau has some of ideas for his IRON MAN trilogy: film it all in 3D and shoot some scenes on IMAX (not unlike THE DARK KNIGHT)! At the IRON MAN DVD conference today, Collider learned of Favreau's 3D and IMAX aspirations, where he cited that the only thing that would hold him back would be the budget, which I don't think will be an issue. After the IMAX success of THE DARK KNIGHT, I think the studio will be willing to throw some cash in Favreau's direction. And although 3D films haven't exactly dominated at the box office, James Cameron's 3D epic AVATAR and the upcoming 3D TOY STORY sequel might work in IRON MAN's favor.

On top of that, Jon also disclosed that we are in for some surprises, including possible cameos by other comic book characters as the studio continues to brilliantly expand their Marvel movie universe. Also, Favreau plans on keeping the story simple and lighthearted while at the same time raising the emotional level (which I take to mean further developing the characters and raising the stakes). So, excited yet?! Do you want to see Iron Man flying around in 3D or do you worry about getting car-sick in the theater?
