Joseph Gordon Levitt in Looper

Could this film possibly get any more interesting?

Anticipation for Chris Nolan’s upcoming third film in his Batman trilogy, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, hit a fever pitch when it was revealed that not only would already announced actor Tom Hardy take on the role of Bane, but that Anne Hathaway would portray the sultry Selena Kyle. And now, thanks to Deadline, it may have just boiled over.

The outlet is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is currently in talks to join the cast of the massively anticipated project, in a yet to be disclosed role. Always mentioned in the same breath as the villain known as The Riddler, that doesn’t seem totally likely at this point, but frankly, it really doesn’t matter, as whatever role he’s set to take on, will be absolutely perfect for the young A-lister.

Personally, I love the idea of Gordon-Levitt reteaming with his INCEPTION director, and at this point, what role it could be for is really up for grabs. However, what role it is could also talk a lot about what the filmmakers are looking to do with the film. He’d be perfect for someone like The Riddler, but then again, he’d also be perfect for an older Robin/Jason Todd, depending on what they plan on doing. Maybe Nightwing? Leaving Gordon-Levitt to take over the cowl after Nolan’s Bruce Wayne has his back broken by Bane? Just spitballing here.
