Josh Zetumer to pen ROBOCOP reboot
The ROBOCOP reboot is ramping up and finally heading its way toward production, following an effort that didn't really work out. MGM is hoping to bring the franchise back from the dead with this project and, with the right team, they might be able to do it.
MGM has hired Josh Zetumer to pen the reboot, and possible reassemble ROBOCOP.
Zetumer has been attached to several big name projects, such as DUNE and a draft of the fourth BOURNE film. The director of ROBOCOP is set to be Jose Padilha, who will be working closely with Zetumer on the project. Not much is known about the film otherwise, but the likelihood of this movie being pretty grim is high.
ROBOCOP deserves a comeback, especially since it seems like MGM is doing their best to make the ROBOCOP film we want. The next big question is who will take up the mantle of ROBOCOP? It's hard to imagine anyone other than Peter Weller taking up the role, but if they get the casting right they'll be even closer to greatness.
Who would you like to see take up the role of ROBOCOP?
