IM Global International Film Co. is looking to confuse both action fans and Rastafarians alike, as they have changed the title from the JUDGE DREDD reboot to simply just DREDD. Aimed at being a more faithful, Rob Schneider-less comic book adaptation over the 1995 film starring Sylvester "I am the law!" Stallone, DREDD will star Karl Urban (STAR TREK) as the future cop that serves as the judge, jury, and executioner. All three in one...making him a Swiss Army knife of justice. As recently announced, the film will costar Olivia Thirlby (JUNO) with a script by Alex Garland (28 DAYS LATER) under the direction of Pete Travis (VANTAGE POINT).

Check out the recently released official synopsis from IM Global after the break!

DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot - if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.
