Julia Ormond joins MAN OF STEEL
Who’s in for some alien family get-togethers?
Deadline is reporting that the man of steel himself, Superman, has found a mother, in the form of Julia Ormond. The actress will star as Lara Lor-van, Supe’s mom on Krypton, in Zack Snyder’s upcoming film, MAN OF STEEL.
Ormond will play opposite Russell Crowe’s Jor-El, along with Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, and Antje Traue. The film is set to hit in December 2011.
Personally, while Ormond seems to be an odd choice given this cast, it’s one that fits perfectly. Ormond is an amazing actress, and really adds a lot to an already immensely intriguing cast. Snyder may have ruffled feathers with SUCKER PUNCH, but he’s a visionary filmmaker, with a sense of style and scope that I think will fit the world of Superman absolutely perfect. Toss in this impeccable cast, and you have the makings of something really special.
