Julia Roberts joining Tarsem’s SNOW WHITE
With Kristen Stewart taking on the younger version of the iconic fairytale character, apparently Relativity Media and director Tarsem Singh are looking to rip the headlines right out of Disney’s hands.
Vulture is reporting that Julia Roberts is currently in talks to star in the director’s upcoming film, BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE, which would see her play an evil queen. The film, set to take a much more “Grimm” look at the character, will follow Snow White after she flees her home, following the murder of her father by her evil step-mother. Teaming up with a group of seven dwarves, she returns to seek revenge, and take over her kingdom.
Based on a script by Melisa Wallack, the film definitely sounds like it has the makings of something truly special. I love Tarsem as a visual filmmaker, and while Roberts isn’t the most compelling choice for the role of the evil queen, she does give the film a lot of steam moving forward.
