Julia Roberts to team up with Ryan Murphy for yet another rom com
The subtitle for the book Eat, Pray, Love is enough to make my ovaries committ ritual suicide. "One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia." Yikes. One would guess I'm not the target demographic for such fare. I'm sure it's a nice story, though. So nice that the book has been adapted for the screen and the film will star such big names as Julia Roberts, James Franco, Javier Bardem, Billy Crudup, Richard Jenkins, and Viola Davis. The film was co-written by Glee co-creater Ryan Murphy. Murphy also directed the film.
Looks like Roberts will be involved once again with Ryan Murphy for another romantic comedy.
With EAT, PRAY, LOVE's release exactly one month away, Roberts and Murphy are both looking to the future. And that future sees the duo reuniting. According to Deadline Hollywood, Sony has paid Roberts and Murphy handsomely to re-team for an untitled romantic comedy. Perhaps EAT, PRAY, LOVE is that good?
The film, written by Murphy, will see Roberts as a career-minded woman with a stay-at-home husband. When she loses her job, their roles are reversed and she finds herself struggling to adjust to motherhood. I can't relate, but I have a suspicion that again, I am not the target for such a story.
It is great to see comedic roles for women expanding. We can be and are breadwinners, after all. We don't always have to play the never been kissed or looking for love in all the wrong places type. Murphy is currently busy at work finishing the script. Production is anticipated to begin next year and, according to IMDb, Murphy currently has quite a few projects in development.
