Though the upcoming indie drama THE RENEE PROJECT is currently filming, we are finally finding out just who will be taking on the principle portions of the project's cast.

The Orlando Sentinel has revealed (via The Playlist) that Kat Dennings, Chad Michael Murray, and Rupert Friend have joined the film’s cast. The film, based on the true story of Renee Yohe, follows the creation of the charity group, To Write Love On Her Arms.

The film is being produced by Kim Dawson and will see Dennings as the film’s lead, and Murray as Jamie Tworkowski, the founder of the charity group. Friend’s role has yet to be disclosed, but it really does sound like quite an interesting little project.

While director Nathan Fankowski, who last helmed EXPELLED: NO INTELLIGENCE ALLOWED, may be cause for a bit of pause, I am a huge fan of Dennings, so her addition here definitely makes this a compelling film. Murray has yet to impress me as an actor, but this may ultimately be the very project that changes that. One can only hope, right?
