Katherine Heigl will star in and produce upcoming HBO project
Katherine Heigl will be producing and starring in an upcoming project for HBO. According to Deadline, HBO has optioned the rights to the novel by Ann Hood, The Knitting Circle.
Here's the summary of the novel from Amazon:
"After the sudden loss of her only child, Mary Baxter joins a knitting circle in Providence, Rhode Island, as a way to fill the empty hours and lonely days. The women welcome her, each teaching Mary a new knitting technique and, as they do, revealing their own personal stories of loss, love, and hope. Eventually Mary is able to tell her own story of grief and in so doing reclaims her love for her husband, faces the hard truths about her relationship with her mother, and finds the spark of life again."
Heigl will be playing Mary Baxter herself. Along with starring, Heigl will also produce the project alongside her mother, Nancy Heigl, through their production company Abishag Productions and Pine Street Pictures.
The adaptation will be written by Craig Wright, award-winning playwright and the creator of the TV series Dirty Sexy Money. This will mark Wright's return to HBO, since he was previously a writer for the HBO series Six Feet Under.
You can see Heigl in NEW YEAR'S EVE in theaters December 9 and in ONE FOR THE MONEY January 27, 2012.
