UPDATE: Screenrant recently spoke with the Administrator of the London International School of Performing Arts, who debunked this rumor.  Nothing to see here.

While the two final films in the MATRIX trilogy may have left many fans with stunningly sour tastes in their mouths, talk around a possible fourth or even fifth film in the franchise has been relatively silent.

Until now.

Star Keanu Reeves has confirmed during a Q&A session in London that the Wachowski siblings have indeed completed a two film script treatment for new MATRIX sequels. According to a report over at AICN, Reeves has said that the siblings have met with James Cameron to talk 3D, and plan “to deliver something which has never been seen.”

Now, this is a mixed bag of awesome. First, the idea of seeing a Wachowski MATRIX sequel in 3D is really compelling. Let it never be said that the two filmmakers are poor visual artists, so the idea of the visually inclined filmmakers jumping to 3D is really compelling. Also, the idea of returning to a franchise that has so many still unanswered questions is intriguing.

However, I simply don’t know if the people involved here have what it take to truly make an interesting MATRIX sequel. Maybe a Wachowski-scribed sequel directed by someone other than James McTeigue? That sure as hell would have this writer interested.  However, at this point, it’s very much a wait and see, and with the Wachowskis working on a few other projects (CN9 and CLOUD ATLAS, for example), so this may be a bit of a wait.
