Keenen Ivory Wayans’ new comedy takes aim at third world adoption

It's been over ten years since I've seen any of Keenen Ivory Wayans' work, but In Living Color and I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA,were my jam back in the day.  I still love Eddie Murphy's RAW which features a skit by Wayans.  I guess, sometimes we as an audience outgrow certain things, but it amazes me that stuff like WHITE CHICKS gets made when I look at his past film efforts.  I don't think he is a genius, but I know he can do better.  Wayans next project is enought to give me hope that he is stepping up his came.  The project titled IT TAKES A VILLAGE will take aim at third world adoption.

This isn't the first time this issue has been the subject of a film. Recently comdian Pauly Shore made a documentary about this issue entitled ADOPTED.   I barely made it 20 minutes into the film before I had to give up on completing the film.  It never quite grasped my attention.  Hopefully Wayans will have better luck with IT TAKES A VILLAGE.

The parody film will center on a high profile actress who makes the decision to adopt from a foreign country.  While that seems simple enough, the conflict arises when the new mom is forced to host the elders and chief of the tribe that the kid comes from until she can prove that she is a worthy mother.  Wayans will serve as writer and director for the film.  There is some great, "fish out of water potential here."  I can't wait to hear who is cast in the role of the actress as her performance is key.

It seems that the film is still a long way from production as Wayans hasn't yet finished the script. This film has the potential to handle a bunch of social issues and depending on what direction they choose to take it, it could be a good source of social commentary. Or, it could be just another WHITE CHICKS. Fingers crossed for the former.
