Kenneth Branagh taking over Jack Ryan reboot

Joshua Brunsting

March 28th, 2012

That didn’t take too long.

Just a week ago, director Jack Bender left the long gestating Jack Ryan reboot, MOSCOW, and now, according to reports, someone is coming down from Aasgard to save it.

Variety is reporting that director Kenneth Branagh is in the director’s chair for the project now, with Paramount looking to shoot the film later this fall, when star Chris Pine wraps on a little film called STAR TREK 2.

Now, while I’m not a huge fan of the Ryan series, I do love the idea of Branagh heading back again to the big budget action world for his next film.  THOR was a wonderful film for both its drama and its action, and Branagh is the primary reason for that.  I think he’s an original voice, and one that could do wonders when put into the Jack Ryan universe.

What do you think?
