Kerry Washington up for DJANGO UNCHAINED?

Another day, another bit of news coming out of the camp of Quentin Tarantino.

With Jamie Foxx all but signed for the male lead of his upcoming film DJANGO UNCHAINED, it’s looking like he’s set to cast his romantic lead, the character of Broomhilda, Django’s wife and the woman who makes him seek revenge, moving the film forward.

Variety is reporting that Kerry Washington is in the running for the role, a perfect fit for a rather important character. Now, the character itself doesn’t amount to much, as she doesn’t get much to do other than act like your run-of-the-mill damsel in distress, but it is a character that at its core is the reason the story is able to move forward in the first place. And you know what, it’s tough to think of a more interesting name to fill that role with than Kerry Washington.

As a huge fan of the actress, I think she’ll fit in perfectly with the absolutely mind-blowing cast that is being put together, including Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, and a little actor you may know of, Leonardo DiCaprio. This is shaping up to be a deeply interesting film, be it from Tarantino or not. Expect much more on this film really soon.

About Joshua Brunsting

Born in the tiny Michigan city known as Holland, and raised in the even smaller city known as Saugatuck, I have been a film geek for the majority of my life, and have known film was my passion ever since the final frame of THE LION KING. I’m a romantic with a thing for 60’s pop music (preferably French), John Keats poems, and an even bigger thing for film noir. Currently a Journalism Major at Grand Valley State University, I am using my love of film, and my deathly, ninja-like, skill behind the keyboard to slowly take over the world. When I’m not writing about or watching film, I’m listening to music, particularly from the likes of TV on the Radio, Best Coast, and Semi Precious Weapons. I play the ukulele, and I also have a deep and intense love for Gustavo Santaolalla and Ennio Morricone, but then again, who doesn’t. I was drum major for my high school marching band for two years, I’m one of the four people who actually watched Dollhouse, and my favorite film of all time is Godard’s BREATHLESS. I’m a wannabe screenwriter, a wild thing, a nerd, a geek, and most importantly, I’m a lover of film. Oh, and I want to be Captain Planet when I grow up.
