Kid genius lands role of kid genius in EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE
I’ve been writing about the adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer’s novel, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for quite some time now. It wasn’t too long ago that we learned Stephen Dadlry would direct the film. Furthermore, Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock are set to play two other critical characters in the film. The only part left to the imagination was the young actor who would play the role of a young child genius. Well, it looks like we’ve got our answer.

Thomas Horn, a kid who recently won $31,800 on Jeopardy, will be playing the role of Oskar Schell – an eccentric young boy who finds a key to a chest that once belonged to his deceased father. Said father will be played by Tom Hanks, and the mother will be played by Sandra Bullock.
The novel has sat on the New York Times Bestseller list and has received widespread acclaim from readers and critics alike. An adaptation of Foer’s other novel, Everything is Illuminated, came out a few years back and had Elijah Wood in the starring role. This current film will likely be a major player at next year’s Oscars; that is, if it releases by then. Shooting is scheduled to begin sometime in January.
