To no one’s surprise, following his Oscar win for Best Original Screenplay for THE KING’S SPEECH, writer David Seidler has quickly found his next gig.

Deadline has revealed that the writer will be teaming with producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy for the upcoming film, GAMES OF 1940.

Teaming up with writer Luca Manzi, the film will follow the “true tale of a group of multinational POWs in a Nazi prison camp who decide to compete against each other in their own version of the Olympics after the 1940 games were canceled due to the escalating war. They risked their lives to stage the games under the noses of the guards.” RT Features and co-producers Rodrigo Teixeira and Fernando Loureiro will finance the project.

Personally, I think this sounds like a fantastic project for the writer to jump aboard.  It sounds like a close project for the writer, and one that should fit well with his style and aesthetic. Overall, it’s nice to see Seidler finally getting back to penning motion pictures.
