LAFF 2011: Trailer for indie horror film ENTRANCE is haunting
It's not often you are able to say an indie horror film's teaser is somehow so creepy and so beautiful at the same time, but I am happy to report that the first teaser released for ENTRANCE is exactly that. The film is co-directed by Dallas Hallam and Patrick Horvath, who previously worked together on the horror comedy DIE-NER.
ENTRANCE is premiering at Los Angeles Film Festival in the Beyond section on Friday, June 24, and the whole festival runs June 16 - June 26. Our own Kate Erbland and Allison Loring will be again covering the festival this year, including ENTRANCE.
According to The Playlist, "the film centers on a young lady whose anxiety of living in Los Angeles turns sinister." The trailer mixes beautiful, artfully crafted cinematography with some incredibly haunting sounds. I personally watched this trailer about 5 times in a row, and the same eerie feeling came over me every time. Check out the synopsis and trailer after the break.
"When Suzy, a beautiful Silverlake hipster, mysteriously loses her beloved dog, a creeping anxiety begins to set in and she decides she’s had enough of L.A.. But on the night of her going-away party, Suziey finds out that leaving might not be so easy.
A remarkably deft blending of genres, this character-study-meets-horror-flick is a true East Side collaboration. Suzy the Silverlake barista really is Suzy the Silverlake barista (and a gifted actress) and the rambling hillside home she inhabits onscreen was director Dallas Hallam’s rental during shooting. But what’s most remarkable about Hallam and Patrick Horvath’s directorial debut is the unshakable sense of dread it evokes. Be warned–you may not sleep so well once you’ve experienced Entrance."
The Playlist also has a picture from the film up, which you can see below.
