Leonardo DiCaprio will be J. Edgar Hoover
A couple of months ago we caught wind of some speculation saying that Leonardo DiCaprio might be portraying J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood's still-untitled biopic of the first Director of the FBI. Yet, after that, news about the project virtually stopped altogether, leaving us anxious and curious for more.
Now it's finally official, DiCaprio has accepted the role, which should set this project in high gear.
It's exciting to see DiCaprio do a role like this for Eastwood, since it seems his most dramatic performances are usually with Martin Scorsese. Changing things up a bit is almost always a good thing, especially when Eastwood is involved.
Not to mention DiCaprio's outstanding performance in just about every biopic he has been involved with. I'm not the biggest fan of THE AVIATOR, but I couldn't say that DiCaprio was bad in the role. Of course, we can't forget CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, where he played Frank Abignale to much critical acclaim. I have no doubt that DiCaprio will bring that same magic to this role, and any role he takes on in the future.
The project has been fast-tracked by Warner Bros., though there is no official word on when shooting will start or an expected release date.
