Lionsgate to help release Joss Whedon’s CABIN IN THE WOODS
It’s about damn time.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate has come in like the angels that they are in this case, and have made a deal with MGM to distribute the long talked-about horror film, CABIN IN THE WOODS.
Co-written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, the film is helmed by the latter, and stars Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Jesse Williams, and Kristen Connolly. Details are relatively scarce with regards to this film, but it has been described as a monster movie, and it’s been one of the more talked-about victims of MGM’s recent financial issues.
While it was originally set to bow come October 23, 2009, the film has been delayed for what will likely be a full two years, and not totally due to its quality. Test screening reviews were relatively mixed, but the delay is solely due to MGM’s debt issue, which is still trying to get cleaned up.
Personally, it’s just amazing to finally hear that it has some sort of release. No date has been set, but October is more than likely, so here’s to hoping we don’t have to hear about it being delayed again, any time soon.
