Lizzy Caplan says a PARTY DOWN movie could happen
What happens when you put a really hilarious show, with an incredibly entertaining cast on a premium cable network that isn't all that well-known? Well, that show ends up getting prematurely cancelled. Such was the case for Starz' Party Down, a show about a Los Angeles catering team with quite interesting backgrounds.
However, according to one of the show's stars, Lizzy Caplan, a movie could be coming down the pipeline.
During an interview with The Playlist, Caplan talked a little bit about the show and its possible movie spin-off. Although the news is positive, she doesn't want to get our hopes up too high:
“I have a lot of faith, all of us have a lot of faith. I do not think it’s a ‘don’t hold your breath’ situation but until there’s something more concrete happening, maybe hold your breath a little bit. It’s not for lack of interest on the parts of the cast and the creators of the show. If there’s any way we can do it, then we will do it, and we are definitely on top of that idea.”
It's really great to see how positive the cast feels about the show and that they want to return to it, but I'm not so sure that a movie version will ever actually be able to come to fruition. If it were on a bigger network, then maybe it would have a better shot, but if ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT can't make it to theaters, then what chance does Party Down actually have?
Until something more concrete comes from it, I'll take Caplan's word and not expect it anytime soon. The show was absolutely brilliant, and we might just have to live with that. Movie or no movie, it's worth checking out on DVD.
Are any of you out there fans of the show?
