“Lost” director/executive producer signs development deal with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot
Now that Lost has sadly come to an end, the many talented people previously involved with the show are likely seeking other projects. Something tells me they are not opting to take a vacation on a beach somewhere or plan a walkabout in Australia anytime soon. Just a hunch...
Such is the case with director/executive producer Jack Bender, the man behind the lens and the scenes on countless, staple Lost episodes - one example being the recent two and a half hour series finale. Risky Business is reporting that Bender is keeping it in the family, as he has just signed a one-year first-look development deal with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot.
Plans include developing and directing a pilot for Warner Bros. Television and the same deal on a future feature at Paramount, where Bad Robot has their other production contract set-up. As Risky Business points out, Bender could be plucked to helm recent Abrams acquisitions like the Phil Alden Robinson-penned diamond heist film amongst others. There's of course always the possibility that the director may develop his own original idea. Seeing that he was entrusted with some of the most cornerstone episodes of Lost, I imagine Mr. Abrams won't have a problem with the latter.
No to mention that Bender is no stranger to Bad Robot, as he has collaborated with Abrams & Co. for over a decade, having also worked on Felicity and Alias.
