Lucasfilm behind animated STAR WARS sitcom

In the past couple years both Robot Chicken and Family Guy have produced full-length episodes spoofing the STAR WARS franchise. The most amazing part about them was complete backing and permission to use the STAR WARS music by Lucasfilm. Now in an even more surprising turn, Lucasfilm now wants to take the plunge and make their own comedic STAR WARS animated series.

The show will be from the minds of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich (the guys behind Robot Chicken), and Brendan Hay (The Daily Show) has been picked up as one of the writers.

Seth Green spoke briefly of the project:

"The 'Star Wars' universe is so dense and rich; it's crazy to think that there aren't normal, mundane everyday problems in a world so well-defined. What do these characters do when they're not overthrowing empires?"

Senreich then added:

"We're going to pull back the curtain of some of those behind-the-scenes shenanigans."

After the success of the first two Robot Chicken episodes, there is certainly a following for this sort of show. Currently, there is no word on what channel the show will air on, but considering Green and Senreich's close relationship with Adult Swim it's likely very likely the show will be on Cartoon Network.

Would you guys tune into a STAR WARS animated sitcom?

I don't see myself getting behind this, but I'd give it a chance, at least.
