Say what you will about actress Malin Akerman, but the woman loves to vary her roles.

Whether it be films like WATCHMEN or COUPLE’S RETREAT, the actress has become quite a hot commodity over the past couple of years, and according to THR, that trend appears to be continuing. The outlet has revealed that Akerman will star opposite Nicolas Cage in the upcoming Simon West-directed film, MEDALLION.

The film will follow “a father – a former master thief – who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.” The film features a script by current “it” scribe David Guggenheim, and will be produced by Matthew Joynes, Jesse Kennedy, McG, and James Holt.

Personally, while I think some of her films have been rather underwhelming, Akerman has always been a relatively enjoyable aspect of them. She was great in WATCHMEN, and given the role (she will play Cage’s ex-flame), this could be a really interesting turn for her as well.
