Admittedly, there are few things in the world that bring me as much joy as watching leatherclad (and less) Malin Akerman run around in WATCHMEN for 2 1/2 hours, so naturally, I'm a little sad when she gets real work. OH, WELL!

Today, we learned that the blonde knock-out (who, as if it needs to be said, is indeed a skilled actress) will be joining one Mr. Ethan Hawke in CIA crime thriller, THE NUMBERS STATION. The story follows Hawke, an agent, and Akerman, who lays under the agent's protection. As some sort of dead-end job punishment, Hawke is assigned to protect Akerman, who is living in the middle of the desert. Things take a turn for the worse when they are attacked, and they'll have to fight to stay alive.

Who is attacking them? Where is "the middle of the desert"? Will Malin Akerman be naked in this movie? Will Ethan Hawke be naked in this movie? All valid questions. Unfortunately, this is all the information we have, as the project is still budding.

Truthfully, this project smells bad to me, but Ethan Hawke impresses more often than not, and I can't speak to the talents (or lack thereof) of director Kasper Barfoed. With her track record, I have faith that Miss Akerman should be able to pull this one out, but statistically speaking, she's due for a bad movie. Both actors are currently busy with other projects, Hawke in Pawel Pawlikowski's THE WOMAN IN THE FIFTH, and Akerman at the tail end of press for THE ROMANTICS, so the project won't start until early 2011.

One thing is for sure. If I know my movie stereotypes, I'm guessing there will be an obligatory love scene somewhere in the mix. Fingers crossed, everyone.
