Marion Cotillard definitely in talks for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
Over this past weekend, reports surfaced stating that actress Marion Cotillard, star of Chris Nolan’s beloved INCEPTION, was set to join fellow co-stars Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Nolan’s upcoming third and final film in his Batman trilogy, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.
And now, after much skepticism, apparently, those rumors were indeed valid.
THR has confirmed early reports in the French paper Le Figaro, and has revealed that the role will see her shoot from June to November. So despite early rumors having her in a small role, that does not actually appear to be the case. Maybe a love interest?
At this point, the exact role has not been revealed, but it does seem likely that this would be the case. Unless Nolan has another role in line for her (Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts have all allegedly read for the role of the film’s love interest), Cotillard may have just taken that role.
Personally, while this writer had his doubts about this rumor (Cotillard is expecting her first child in the spring), I do absolutely love this casting. She is a fantastic actress, and an absolute joy to watch on screen. There is something so inherently watchable about her performances that her truly haunting beauty even takes a back seat to her talent.
