Mark Wahlberg’s BROKEN CITY finds financial backing
Among the various projects actor Mark Wahlberg has on his slate, one of the more intriguing films is entitled BROKEN CITY. With Allen Hughes attached to helm, the film’s script was a member of The Black List back in 2008, and follows the story of an ex-cop-turned-private detective who starts to look deeper into the infidelity of a New York mayoral candidate’s wife.
Now, according to Deadline, the film has finally found some money to back it up. The outlet is reporting that the film will have a $60 million budget from Emmett/Furla Films. The film appears to be moving forward at a really fast clip now, however, with the cavalcade of projects on his slate, this one has a bit of waiting to do.
Wahlberg will next shoot THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, and then it’s a crapshoot. He has COCAINE COWBOYS, BAIT AND SWITCH, a Will Ferrell comedy called TURKEY BOWL, THE FIGHTER 2, and even a Justin Bieber-led basketball film. Personally, I think this is easily the most interesting among them, but then again, when you have that many films on a schedule, who knows.
