Marvel to bring The Inhumans to the big screen
Ever since Marvel began truly creating their film universe, one of the things they had hoped to do was give respect and studio cash to smaller characters, ranging from B-level characters like Dr. Strange, or Z-level characters such as Dazzler.
Well, it appears as though the studio will be staying good on its promise.
According to It’s On The Grid (via Badass Digest), the studio will be bringing the team known as The Inhumans to the big screen. The project is currently being sent to writers, and while it has no release date set yet, here’s what you can expect:
“Aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell aliens to eventually call back their race to take over the planet. Ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don’t want to cause war.”
Now, that’s really all that we know about this particular film, but with the team being heavily steeped in the world of sci-fi/fantasy, it will indeed be an interesting move for the studio. I’m not hugely familiar with this team, but it will be a really intriguing project to watch, particularly in the post-AVENGERS landscape over at Marvel. THE AVENGERS appears to be dealing with aliens (Skrulls) as well, so Marvel may very well be ditching the WB/Chris Nolan model of reality=quality. And hey, who doesn’t love some pure sci-fi in their superhero films? It’s a refreshing tone to set, as everyone in Hollywood seems hell bent on giving us pure realism.
Count me in.
