Matthew Fox and Ed Harris no longer in WORLD WAR Z

Vulture is reporting that both Matthew Fox and Ed Harris have parted ways with the production of WORLD WAR Z, the big screen adaptation of the zombified WWIII retrospective by author Max Brooks. Last we heard, the two were in talks to star alongside Brad Pitt but now it seems that is not the case.

Fox has a scheduling conflict with Summit's I, ALEX CROSS co-starring Tyler Perry, which is preventing him from taking the gig. As for Harris, no one is quite sure why he bailed, but the mind can't help but wonder if it could be the various problems the film has had getting off the ground, namely financial woes amongst others.

With production already under way in Malta, word is that the studio is scrambling to replace the roles left empty by Fox and Harris.

I had such high hopes for the film, as Z the novel is one of the better spins on the rapidly overdone zombie genre (Brad Pitt's involvement doesn't hurt). However, with everything that has happened over the course of its development, I am beginning to think it may be the typical case of "don't judge a book by its movie."
