Chris Nolan has always been one for giving roles to actors of yesteryear, especially in his BATMAN franchise. BATMAN BEGINS featured Rutger Hauer, THE DARK KNIGHT featured Eric Roberts, and now THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has its bit part from a B-player. Not one, but two actually!

Jeff Sneider over at Variety is reporting that Matthew Modine (FULL METAL JACKET) and Tom Conti (MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. LAWRENCE) have joined the cast in two unnamed roles. Politician/lawyer and mob boss? Just a guess.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES just began production with a globetrotting shoot that includes Pittsburgh, New York, Los Angeles, India, England, and Scotland. The film swoops into theaters July 20th, 2012.

If you missed it earlier (though I'm not sure how anyone could), we got our first look at Tom Hardy as one of the film's villains, Bane.
