While he may not be scoring the follow-up to Miranda July’s first feature ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW (entitled THE FUTURE), the film for which he may be best known as a composer, Michael Andrews has finally found himself a new project.

Film Music Reporter has revealed (via The Playlist), that the composer will be writing the score for the upcoming Judd Apatow-produced comedy, BRIDESMAIDS. The film currently has a massive cast, including Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Jon Hamm, Dianne Wiest, Matthew Lucas, Chris O’Dowd, Ellie Kemper, and Melissa McCarthy, and will follow a 30-something woman who is asked to be her best friend’s maid of honor. However, when meeting the snobby bridesmaids, this turns for the worst, and hijinks will likely ensue. The film is being directed by Paul Feig, and will hit theaters on May 12, 2011.

Andrews is an absolutely fantastic composer, and while this won’t be the first time working with the Apatow team (he did score Apatow’s last directorial outing, FUNNY PEOPLE, as well as Undeclared and Freaks & Geeks episodes), it will be a welcome addition to this already massively interesting project. I am a huge fan of Andrews and his work, so this definitely adds a lot to my anticipation for this film. What do you think?
