Michael Bay to produce low-budget alien film
That's right, Michael Bay, best known for his nearly over-the-top, big budget CG-heavy films, is taking the low-budget route. Granted, it's not his film, but he is set to produce it. Bobby Glickert is the writer behind this project, but it will likely go through rewrites, as Platinum Dunes is currently looking for writers to pen its script. Glickert also put together a 2 minute teaser trailer that ultimately was the hook that got Michael Bay, and Platinum Dune partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, to jump on this project.
The plot is being well-guarded right now, but the word is that it's a story that involves alien abductions. While that in itself doesn't sound completely original, it does peak my interest due to its low-budget take. Maybe they are trying to do what PARANORMAL ACTIVITY has done for the horror genre.
No word yet on a release date or even start date, but I do find it interesting that Bay is tying himself to so many sci-fi movies. Personally, sci-fi is one of my favorite genres, therefore news of this story gets me a little excited to see more of it in the theaters.
