Michael Fassbender reteaming with Steve McQueen for new sex drama
Every filmmaker has their muse. Well, apparently artist-turned-filmmaker Steve McQueen has found his.
According to Variety, the HUNGER director will reteam with his right hand man, actor Michael Fassbender, for his next film, a New York-based drama that will follow a man, who has a tough time managing his sex life, in a story that will “examine the nature of need, how people live their lives and react to the experiences that shape them.” Continue reading after the break.
The film is set to be penned by McQueen and BRICK LANE writer Abi Morgan, and will indeed be the filmmaker’s next film. That means, while this project sounds great and all, we will not be seeing his much-talked about Fela Kuti biopic, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, for some time now.
Personally, I’ll see anything McQueen does, as HUNGER is a fantastic film. However, I can’t help but be a little sad that we won’t be seeing his Kuti biopic, a film that I think is far more interesting than this project. Don’t get me wrong, the idea of McQueen digging into yet another film looking at one of basic human need is amazing, but I really think that his Kuti film could be something truly special.
