Sometimes all you need is a great cast to get some really solid buzz going. This happens to be one of those times.

According to Variety, rookie filmmaker Liza Johnson will lead Linda Cardellini, Tim Blake Nelson, and Michael Shannon in her debut film, RETURN. The film follows a woman, played by Cardellini, who returns home from her tour of duty, and finds life hard to readjust to.  Her husband will be played by Shannon, with Nelson nabbing the role of a veteran who grows close to Cardellini’s character.

After name dropping films like SAFE and A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE as influences behind her take on the project, this cast is sounding like it’s the icing on what hopes to be one hell of a delicious cake. I think that Cardellini, best known for her role on Freaks and Geeks, is a fantastic actress who doesn’t get her just due, and Tim Blake Nelson has proven that he’s one to always watch out for.

However, there may not be a single actor working today that is more fun and intense to watch act than Shannon.  He’s one of today’s best actors, and is one to never turn away from going places many actors wouldn’t dream of taking a character.  Personally, this is one of the better top lines that I’ve seen in a very long time, and with the premise sounding quite interesting, I can’t wait to see what this first time filmmaker has in store for us.
