Mickey Mouse could be getting his own feature

While Mickey Mouse is arguably Disney's most iconic character, he's never been given his own full-length feature. He has his own comics, television shows, DVDs, antenna balls and much, much more, but no modern starring big screen roles. That all could soon change.

In an interview with Bleeding Cool, Burny Mattison, the veteran of the 60's WINNIE THE POOH features, spoke a few words about his next project after the upcoming adaptation of  WINNIE THE POOH.

"I am working on just an idea of my own which is basically a Mickey, Donald, Goofy feature film idea. We have to present it first to the bosses to get the green light."

So while it sounds like this Mickey Mouse film could take a while to develop (like many great animated films), Mickey could finally see the big screen. I think the 2010 video game Epic Mickey could really influence this project. It would be really interesting to see the film possibly take on some of the changes Mickey saw during Epic Mickey. While Epic Mickey takes a lot of its inspiration from FANTASIA and quite a few infamous Mickey shorts, the storyline of the game is phenomenal, while I thought the actual game play was a bit lacking. If Disney chose to develop that storyline a little more and set it apart, I would not be disappointed.
