Mondo’s Director’s Series tackles horror icon William Lustig
Horror fans, rejoice!
One of the genre’s underappreciated masters, William Lustig, is getting a trio of posters to celebrate screenings that are taking place this week at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. MANIAC (screening Tuesday at 7pm), MANIAC COP 2 (screening Tuesday at 10pm), and VIGILANTE (screening Wednesday at midnight) all have fantastic posters by three very different artists that will be available before each respective screening, as well as Thursday on Mondo’s website (if any are left over).
First up is “Maniac” by Ken Taylor. The poster measures 24” x 36” and has a run of 200. The haunting poster features a likeness of Joe Spinell, the titular maniac in the film.
Second is “Maniac Cop 2” by Jason Edmiston. The poster measures 18” x 24” and is limited to an edition of 125. The poster relies more on a stylized comic book art style than the other two, very appropriate for the comic book insanity that is MANIAC COP 2.
Lastly, “Vigilante” by Alan Hynes is 18” x 24” and has a run of 100, and is my personal favorite poster of the three.
If you can’t make it to the screenings, be sure and check out Mondo’s website, where leftover posters will be on sale on Thursday at a random time.
