More TOY STORY 3 casting
One very important characteristic when it comes to animated films is the voice work. You can tell a lot about a person by the sound of their voice, and likewise, you can tell a lot about a Mr. Potato Head from the voice being used for that character. Fortunately for all of us, voice casting for the third TOY STORY is still going strong, picking up familiar voices and big names.
Straight from John Lasseter's mouth, and then Lee Unkrich's Twitter, "John Morris, voice of young Andy in TS and TS2, is back as 18-year old Andy in TS3." I am glad they are sticking to the original cast of voices, acquiring 24 year-old Morris to voice 18 year-old Andy, and keeping up the continuity.
Also announced on Unkrich's Twitter, "Also joining the Toy Story 3 cast: Jeff Garlin (@jgarlin), Bonnie Hunt, Whoopi Goldberg." Jeff Garlin last lent his voice talents to Pixar as Captain McCreain the brilliant WALL-E. Bonnie Hunt has had parts in MONSTERS INC., A BUG'S LIFE, and CARS. Whoopi Goldberg, on the other hand, is a Pixar virgin, though she has done this voice work for RACING STRIPES (my favorite), THE RUGRATS MOVIE, and THE LION KING. So far, no announcements have been made as to what characters these people will be voicing, but when the information becomes available we will be sure to let you know.
For fun, I have included the great Cormac McCarthy's take on the direction TOY STORY 3 should have gone...
