A few months ago at SXSW there was talk of a super secret screening. After one outlet ruined the secret in a headline and thus clearly not getting the concept of a "secret screening," everyone was excited for the Scott Derrickson-directed thriller SINISTER. The reaction to the film has been almost universally positive, with many considering it one of the scariest movies in recent memory.

Although its release is still five months away, Summit has released an incredibly creepy motion poster for the film. In SINISTER, Ethan Hawke plays "a true crime novelist who discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror."

SINISTER is directed by Scott Derrickson (THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE) and written by C. Robert Cargill, whom some of you might know as Massawyrm from Ain't It Cool News. It's set to be released on October 5, paving the way for what is shaping up to be one Hell of an October for horror. You can check out the motion poster after the jump.
