Bob Schneider and Robert Rodriguez music video

Austin boasts some pretty big names in film and music among its residents.  So it's an even bigger deal when two of Austin's biggest stars from those worlds put their talents together.  Recently this happened when local Austin musician Bob Schneider teamed up with director Robert Rodriquez for the music video for "40 Dogs (Like Romeo and Juliet)." The song is featured on Schneider's latest album, Lovely Creatures.

The video features Kat Dennings (NICK AND NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST, CHARLIE BARTLETT, and the Rodriguez-directed SHORTS).  The concept seems to focus on the generation gap between Schneider and Dennings who appear to be in a May-December romance.  He's an analog man and she is a digital girl. Those familiar with Austin will surely notice landmarks like the Hotel St. Cecilia, Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake), The Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail, and the Lamar Street Bridge.

You can watch the video after the break.

Bob Schneider is no stranger to film work having had parts in two of Austin filmmaker Bob Byington's films, HARMONY AND ME and RSO [REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER].  His music can be found on a handful of soundtracks including DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, and MISS CONGENIALITY.

Be sure to head over to IFC, to read an exclusive interview with Rodriguez and Schneider.  The video will also air tonight at 9:53 pm EST as part on IFC's Automat.
