Must Watch: Elle Fanning in THE CURVE OF FORGOTTEN THINGS
99.9% of modern short film/commercials based around fashion products ultimately become nothing more than simple spots featuring close ups of hauntingly attractive men or women spraying perfume on also attractive members of the opposite sex. While that’s all fine and dandy in many cases, it’s short films like THE CURVE OF FORGOTTEN THINGS that makes me think more fashion houses should back projects like this.
The short, helmed by Todd Cole, is in promotion of the fashion staple Rodarte (who truly launched into the spotlight after designing the dresses for Darren Aronofsky’s BLACK SWAN), and stars Elle Fanning, as a girl coming to a home, presumably one that she used to live in. The reason the plot is hard to pinpoint, is because honestly, there isn’t one. That said, it’s still a fantastic piece of short film filmmaking, and one of the best commercial/short films I’ve seen in a while.
Scored by Deerhunter, the film was shot on the RED camera with special lenses to bring up that dream like look the film so perfectly instills. Alright, I’m done talking. Just watch this damn thing. Head over to Nowness to check it out (hat tip to The Playlist for the heads up).
