Nanette Burstein to helm UNFORGIVING WORLD; penned by Nicole Holofcener
Now this is a match made in cinematic heaven.
While her last directorial effort, PLEASE GIVE, may not have floated many people’s boats, her screenplay for the film was absolutely top notch, and now, writer/director Nicole Holofcener is getting back at it.
THR is reporting that Holofcener has penned a new film, UNFORGIVING WORLD, which will in turn be helmed by GOING THE DISTANCE and THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE director Nanette Burstein. The film is based on a French feature entitled NOTRE UNIVERS IMPITOYABLE, and will follow a couple who see themselves battling for the same promotion at an architecture film.
Now, while Burstein herself hasn’t found the critical acclaim one would imagine since jumping into narrative features with GOING THE DISTANCE (although for all intents and purposes, that film does have a lot of fans), the combination of her direction and Holofcener’s fantastic writing, is a perfect pair. One could not think of a better fit for Burstein’s direction than Holofcener’s hilarious and still very powerful writing. Toss in a premise that fits these two like a glove, and you have a film that can't get here fast enough.
